Premier album à sortir sur ZeECc, l'occasion de produire un double CD limité à 100 exemplaires en vente exclusivement sur le site zeecc.com.

Ce "Backdrift To Sea LP" comporte 14 titres aux ambiances plutôt dub-techno. Composé par l'allemand Marcel 'Nemo' Frehse, les titres laissent place à ses inspirations sub-aquatiques et à ses influences telles que Basic Channel, Chain Reaction, Kyoto Digital et autres...

Dans une ambiance feutrée, parfois hypnotique, l'artiste mélange à la fois les connotations Dub et Reggae aux sonorités électroniques, pour vous immerger dans un univers et une atmosphère calme et envoûtante. Pour cela, il n'hésite pas à entendre ses morceaux "Undersea Dub", "Water Pressure Dub" et "Sunken Wrecks" sur 10, 15 ou 20 minutes. Une durée peu habituelle qui laisse encore parfois un sentiment de trop peu comme pour le titre "Nautical Dub".

Il en profite également pour remixer les titres d'Inn-R, de Biodub (Samuvar) et de Hieronymus (Kyoto Digital) ou faire appel à d'autres artistes tels que Fluxion (Vibrant Music / Resopal / Chain Reaction), Marko Fürstenberg (Baum / Ornaments / Echocord), Christian Dittmann (Persona / Rrygular), Xoki (Instabil / Trenton / Morris Audio) et Liquid Level (Deepindub).

Ce melting-pot permet ainsi de multiplier les explorations vers un son tantôt plus minimal, plus tech-house, ou 100% techno à l'image du remix de Marko Fürstenberg plus proche des titres de Steve Rachmad ou de Joris Voorn.

To be honest, even if I had to do with electronic music since 16 or 17 years, it’s only recently that I came into atmospheric Dub Techno. Who would have thought that the BCD on Basic Channel (one of the most impressive albums of electronic music in general) would act as a trigger for me? Since Basic Channel, we had countless producers whom were tried to reproduce this music style and failed, and others whom do it well, by identifying new aspects. This latter category includes The Nautilus Project by Marcel Frehse, whose "Backdrift To Sea LP" has just been released on www.ZeECc.com. Thematically, this double album is dedicated to the vastness of the ocean and takes the listener into icy underwater fantasies, frozen by endless delay and reverb. We find here probably the most mysterious combinations of chords and the most atmospheric sound areas that we have heard for a long time. On board, often-imperceptible drums accompany the sound collages, with fluid transitions from techno to ambient. Listen and drift away. On CD 2, five remixes signed by well-known names (Christian Dittmann, Fluxion, Theodor Zox, Liquid Level and Marco Fürstenberg), push us back again to techno step. Even if all these ones are indeed succeeded, they’re not really needed here. For me, these remixes could be probably removed because they are completing this album a little bit out of its global atmosphere. However, tracks 1 to 10 revealed an excellent and absolutely outstanding album, perfect for cold winter months, and possibly on the sea? - 6/6 -
