PartagerLegendary Silo Club lands in Leuven again !
After more than two years of absence, Silo will return to Leuven for the first time on Thursday, October 31st. In April 2011 the curtain fell for this legendary club venue because of the reallocation of the Leuvense Vaart. Nonetheless SILO kept beating with parties spread over Brussels, Gent, Hasselt and the rural Glabbeek. But it wasn't easy finding the right venue to make the return to Leuven. However with De Hoorn, Silo has finally found the perfect haven which offers history, industry, and future.
Founded in 1923, De Hoorn was the cradle for what is now the worldwide known Leuven beer. In 2011 the ambitious renovation of this historically protected monument came to an end and gave birth to a cultural melting pot and innovative meeting place.
Club Silo opened its doors in December 2006. Right from the start, one thing was clear : quality and innovation are the basic principles of the club. In no time the club was featured in the Top 100 of "best clubs in the world" by various leading international music magazines. Next to the main house and techno nights, the club also ventured into collaborations for other genres : drum & bass / dubstep, electro / rave and occasionally concerts. The club definitely had a nose for upcoming talent and many artists as Paul Kalkbrenner, Diplo, Chase & Status, Crookers, Solomun, Ben Klock... appeared in Silo long before they got known by the big public. Next to that big names as Laurent Garnier, Apparat, Moodymann, Mark Farina, DJ Sneak... loved to play in the underground venue. Silo was not only "the place to be" for the students of Leuven but also attracted electronic music lovers from around the whole country and abroad.
Just like the club, also the new venue, De Hoorn likes to build a bridge between history and future and in De Hoorn this is done by the Atrium, a connection between the new building and the old industrial parts. This beautiful open space will be fitted with bars and a chill out zone. It is located next to the Machine Room which will be enlarged with the Hangar. Those spaces used to deliver the energy for the brewing process. Now, they will be the places from where the musical energy for a bubbly party process will be emitted. An industrial space with original machines where hard work definitely has left its mark. The ideal environment to enjoy and party to technological beats !
Those beats will be provided by artists as Roman Flügel, who perfectly fits into the innovative philosophy of Silo. He may not be the most well known name with the big crowds but those who know consider him as one of the big innovators and leaders in the field of house and techno. He's one of the favorite producers of Sven Väth (whose tracks he sometimes produces) and Ricardo Villalobos (who prefers Romans Playhouse label for his productions ) and his talent also didn't go unnoticed by the bigger names on earth. He remixed tracks by Kylie Minogue, The Human League, Daft Punk, Primal Scream and more. In his sets he also likes to connect the past to the present and future with musical journeys through 20 years of "rave". He's a favorite in the praised Robert Robert Jonson club in Offenbach and institutes as Berghain/Panomarabar in Berlin and Amnesia in Ibiza.
The second international artist, recently got picked up by the Innervisions crew with Ame & Dixon - these days really big names who visited Silo on several occasions in the past. They were so impressed with Baikal's release on Maeve that they immediately asked him to remix no one less than Ian Pooley for Innervisions. Here's a new talent, tipped by both Silo and Innervisions, of whom we are bound to hear a lot more in the future !
Pierre, resident at the famous Fuse club in Brussels since many, many years and the man behind the Lessizmore label and party concept, as well as Silo resident Coeur who will be teaming up with Nathan Oye from Brüxsel Jardin, complete the line-up of this unique visit of Silo to their home-ground !
