Utopia Events is a fairly new event agency led by several talented students with the same dream : create parties on which beautiful illusions become reality. And it's a mission which they have accomplished very well over the past two years : several concepts in Culture Club (Eivissa, Dirty Disney, Baywatch, Illuminate, We are your Friends, ...), their own pop-up club during the Gentse Feesten and several private affairs next to the "End of the World parties" with which they are now touching down in Artcube for the first time.
This year, their New Year's edition will be held at the Eskimofabriek. This means bigger and bolder every time, however no end of the world atmosphere here, quite the contrary : back to the "Garden of Eden" where it all began. Each Utopia event is different and that will definitely be the case on this NY edition : come and be amazed !
On Utopia you will be able to party like in the "Garden of Eden" : in a gorgeous environment where you will be free of worries and sins. An environment in which you will be able to go completely wild and push your boundaries : without judgments or prejudices. Only you, the dance-floor and an insane atmosphere : true happiness will be at the tip of your fingers !
The "Garden of Utopia" will be the perfect and beautiful place in which a seemingly impossible illusion will become reality. It will be enhanced by the best dj's of the moment. The line-up is headed by Makasi who spends about as much time in New York and Hollywood than in our country but when he is in Belgium you can find him on the biggest festivals as Summerland, Daydream, Laundry day, Sunset Fest, ... He loves to mix many genres in a special way and this landed him gigs with Leonard Cohen in Las Vegas and on big fashion-shows (and their after-parties) in New York, Milan, Moscow and Dusseldorf. His highlights of the past summer were without a doubt his sets on both Tomorrowland and Tomorrowworld. He shared the decks with many big names as Chuckie, Laidback Luke, Afrojack, R3hab and many others. As such, we are convinced that he is the perfect headliner for our "Garden of Utopia".
Next up are the Ghent Bangers, also known as the successful joint-venture of Culture Club residents Neon & Davidov. They combine over 25 years of nightlife-experience, destroying the hottest clubs, events & parties nationwide and beyond. They both love and play the best of all electronic worlds and on-stage they create a high-quality melting pot of urban music, electro, drum'n'bass, dubstep & rock.
The Utopia residents are obviously also present. They made the perfect waves on the dance-floors of the surf-camps of BoardX and will definitely do the same here. Next to that you can hear Onepack & Bigbass also in clubs as Magic, L'etage, Le Blue, Karma Club and many others. When they are behind the decks as a duo, the magic is doubled so we had to book them together on this special night.
And another star from Ghent is Lanka who also made his name in clubs as L'étage and Le Blue. He is also a big sports fan and can be found on the many BoardX parties, both here and abroad as in Spain as well as dj. on the Red Bull truck. Last year he also won the Movida Corona DJ contest.
And last but not least, Laurent Davidsson who secured himself a spot as the youngest dj. ever in the Spanish Disco Bataplan and who now also regularly plays in Culture Club, after the success of various singles as "Nebula" and "Singles". A main room as powerful as the big bang, but hey, you deserve no less for the start of a new year !
The Urban Paradise room will - as the name says - be a heaven for the lovers of the purer urban sounds. Here you will be able to shake and twerk without any shame to the best that hip hop and r&b have on offer at the moment.
Dj Dysfunkshunal, without a doubt one of the greatest turn-tablists Belgium has ever known, is leading the line-up in this room. His unique style of blending hip-hop, r&b, electro, house, dancehall, reggae, soul & funk while incorporating his outstanding turntablist skills is what distinguishes him from most other DJ's. As a member of the Killa Tactics crew he travelled across the globe, nowadays, you can find him solo at the biggest events.
He will share the decks with Black Frank who feels completely at home in Ghent where the people love his performances at places like Charlatan and Culture Club and where he regularly rooms the nightlife with TLP as the Ghent Vice crew. Add to that Duub from that other hip party-place in Ghent, Decadance and you know your evening can't go wrong !
A great eclectic mix of many local talents who have crossed each other on many occasions and who will be able to create the perfect vibe together ; The rest is, as they say, up to you ....
