At the end of the 80s, Belgium was taken by surprise by the New Beat, a once immensely popular, almost surreal type of dance music. Its unexpected but short lived success left a mark on a new generation of musicians and producers in Belgium and abroad in the years to come. The story was widely ignored by "serious" music critics and the mainstream media in general. So Jozef Devillé set out to bring it to the big public. He did so with "The Sound of Belgium", a documentary that goes in search of the spirit of a nation, by exploring the history of Belgian's electronic music and the people that danced to it. The movie was a huge success and shown in many venues and several times on national tv.
The best way to keep this story alive obviously is to bring it to the dance-floor. So follow "The Sound of Belgium" on its exclusive and never seen before club tour in legendary locations on 4 different dates. The tour couldn't have wished for a better start with a sold-out venues and an out-of-this-world atmosphere in the famous Balmoral and Forty Five in Hasselt.
On Saturday, April 2nd "The Sound of Belgium" will touch down in La Rocca, the oldest, still running nightclub in the country. From the very start party people danced there till Monday morning as if their life depended on it. Here you will find two of their most famous residents in the form of Marko de la Rocca, responsible for the famous Sunday nights and Eric Beysens aka Eric B who you can also see extensively in the TSOB movie with his huge knowledge of early Popcorn and New Beat music. The line-up is completed with former resident Steve Cop who later also excelled at Fuse as well as TSOB resident Quincy.

The tour will appropriately come to an end on Saturday, April 16th in Boccacio. This club was the breeding ground of the genre as so many producers would test their productions on its crowd before releasing them to the big public. Who can still remember the sets of Olivier Pieters, Phi Phi, Eric B, Phill Watts, Mario and Mike Thompson ? For those who are in the know, this will be the ultimate chance to experience it all over once again and for all the others, this will be a unique opportunity to be part of an exceptional piece of Belgian electronic music history 20 years after date. In the main room you will hear the older sounds, going from pop corn over new beat to the earliest trance and house classics and it had just been decided a second room will be added with the clubs-sounds of the 90's brought to you by dj's as CP, Quincy and Marko de la Rocca as well as film maker Jozef Devillé.
The one and only Belgian sounds on legendary locations with the absolute leading players of then, that is "The Sound of Belgium" on tour.
