On New Year's Eve you will be able to "Enter the Future", occupying 3 full blown rooms at the ArtCube venue in Ghent. Those who remember Kozzmozz' earlier days in Kuipke in the Citadelpark, know that various concepts used to fly under one flagship. Back then Kozzmozz featured several rooms with different genres and it's the place where Star Warz was born. For those who don't remember, don't worry, we can tell you one thing : it was amazing. Lovers of all kinds of electronic music uniting as one, celebrating like there was no tomorrow.
So we've decided to do it again, this time celebrating another magical year ahead of us with three party concepts under one roof. A party for all those who love techno but can also appreciate some acid breaks or all those who adore drum'n'bass but don't mind getting lost on a good slice of techno. It will be a party for everybody who loves experimental and alternative sounds. Because yes, we are going to go quite psychedelic on your dancing asses. Inhale the future, exhale the past, and join us on our trip !
The main room is headed by Kozzmozz who will fly you into "Space" as they have been doing so well for over the past 20 years.The commanders leading you into the future are of the highest order and perfectly fit into the philosophy for this New Year's extravaganza : bringing revolutionary and psychedelic techno sounds for future party generations.
Rødhåd has been socialized to Berlin's looptechno nights with Berghain at the forefront. His specific style characterized by timeless, powerful techno and melancholic grooves that never fails to lift the dance-floor higher and higher.
With various flourishing projects at hand as well as releases on well-respected labels as Prologue, MDR, Ann Aimee and more, Milton Bradley has become one of the most promising producers within the genre. His dystopian, industrial-influenced and tripping sounds are also representative of his internationally-acclaimed dj-sets. Do not try to resist his beat or you will find yourself immersed in the hypnotic, haunting sci-fi 303 rhythms of Alien Rain.
Ansome's live acts are quite a revelation in today's techno scenery. You will hear a lot of new material from his first album on Perc Trax which follows his White Horse EP. All his productions showcase this London producer's characteristically no-mercy, analogue-aided take on techno following on from releases on Mord, No Logo Music and his own South London Analogue Material label.
Bas Mooy is heavily influenced by his hometown Rotterdam, a city that breaths industrial strength. It's from there that he kick-started the legendary Audio Assault label with Radial, setting the standard for today's quality dark techno. He's a member of the "Strictly Techno" collective and a regular guest at Awakenings. You can find his music on Mote Evolver, Perc Trax, Gynoid, Sleaze Records, Planet Rhythm and of course his own imprint Mord. The latter one has become a well-established institution, with international recognition and being praised for its stubborn releases that capture perfectly Bas Mooy's personal style. Hold on tight, because this one will hit you with a jackhammer slamming dj-set !
Spacid was the driving force behind the FGA-collective, who organized successful and mostly illegal parties and were famous for their edgy techno in the 90's. Kozzmozz's 6th edition was his debut and meanwhile Spacid is the K resident. Both his reverence for the past and his quest for innovation transpire in his work as a dj. His thirst for renewal is reinforced by his passion for music, which keeps him sharp and edgy.
Knowing his musical past and loving the harder styles, it was only right that Twan created his own. A style best described as fast-paced raw percussive techno. Sharing the passion, he co-founded the successful techno concept Rimbu. As a resident artist Rimbu gave his musical career a major kick-start and 6 months later, "2 Boners' his debut EP with KRTM got released on Madback Records. And nothing's going to stop this madman now, he will keep pushing the boundaries of industrial techno till they break.
If you want to be led further into the "Zone" you may want to go check out the second room hosted by Star Warz, after more than 15 years in the field, still thé leading drum & bass concept in the country and beyond.
The first headliner Commix is an essential household name in new school drum'n'bass, with influences deeply rooted in techno as Shifted so the connection is already here. Their debut album "Call to Mind" on Metalheadz is still regarded as one the genre's best albums this century. Following an appearance on Doc Scott's "Future Beats" album, a new phase was launched with 3 comeback releases on the Generations EP 1 on Metalheadz and now the Generation EP 2 hit the decks with more brand new tracks. Check them out !
When Noisia asks you to send them tunes after you're only producing for one year, you know you're doing something right. And that's exactly what happened to Signal, the 17-year-old wonderkid who's been churning out bangers which are making producers twice his age scratch their heads. With releases on the likes of Critical, Renegade Hardware and of course Noisia's Invisible Recordings, the Dutch prodigy is fast becoming an established name thanks to impeccable production capabilities - and he's only just getting started.
After dropping an incredible Metalheadz LP as SCAR (with Script), a first solo release since his USB Album in 2014 sees Survival harness his deft production process towards Dispatch Recordings. Teeing off with three tumultuous tracks, Survival returns with a technically flawless display, with low ends bursting at the seams and a ruthless use of space. The single is just a warning of what's to come, because much more is on the way, including a new Survival album in 2017.
Phase is 21 years old, Belgian and has been racking up releases and forthcoming tracks on Metalheadz, Goodlooking, Med School, Integral, Warm Communications, Fokuz and more. His dj-sets consist of soul-filled, rolling tracks which let him win the well-known "Sun and Bass" dj competition in 2014. He has played all over Europe and gained support from some of the biggest players in the game, including Goldie, Friction, London Elektricity, Break and many, many more.
M Zine & Scepticz are two friends & producers hailing from the east of Flanders. M Zine has releases on Demand Recordings and IM : LTD. He stands solid as a rock with his fresh, minimal & techy sound. Scepticz is part of the R value crew & known for his energetic deep drum & bass sets. Together you can find them on Samurai Music, Demand Records, Proximity Recordings, E-Motion Records, IM : Ltd, R-value and as Shellshock & Subsonik residents. They have also just released an EP on Dispatch Recordings.
Three good friends decided they had too much in common not to start working together and Bredren was born. Not even three years later and they have released tracks on Dispatch Recordings, Proximity Recordings, Demand Records, Hospital Records, Break-Fast Audio and many others. Their sound is deep, dark and minimal, but instantly recognizable, and that made them one of K-Mag's "20 to Watch In 2013". In the past you could have seen them hitting Outlook Festival, Sun & Bass and more as they have been playing all over Europe.
One87, Star Warz resident, played over a thousand national & international dj sets, on all kinds of events, alongside most of the great names in drum'n'bass today.
Highlights include sets at Metalheadz @ Fabric and Cable in London, Shogun Audio @ Cable in London, Pukkelpop and Tomorrowland in Belgium, USA and Brasil.
Cedex & Higher Underground earned early merits with their own events where they invited big names as Pendulum, Wilkinson, Noisia and Sigma. Since Cedex and Higher Underground joined forces, they became unstoppable behind the decks. Expect an explosive mix from dynamic duo that knows how to please a crowd. They are residents at Steam in Decadance where they will often team up with 3XB, as they will do here !
La Junta is collaboration between 3 Belgian guys, coming from 3 different styles of bass music. Greyone has a history in darkstep and released tracks on labels as Mindsaw, Hardline, Manticore, ...Likewize's roots can be found in the deep dubstep scene. Darkside never played solo but did several b2b gigs. His origins have always been drum & bass and neuro. United as one, La Junta got the knowledge, skill and mind power to take drum & bass to the next level !
Star Warz' favorite MC's MC Mush & MC Nice will be taking the vibe in the "Zone' to the next level, are you ready to join them on their flight ?
And for all you lovers of the true underground, the alternative basses and beats .. the real tweeking of the minds, bodies and souls, there will be a third room where you can go find all that your heart and dancing feet desire. Stefan ZMK created a unique brand of free-parties : "ZMK Soundsystem". In 2000 Stefan was already a notorious vinyl collector and he was one of the members to start the ZMK record label. He performed at countless parties all over Europe, promoting the unique Dutch brand of acid, tekno and hardcore. With over 17 years of experience, he is considered the most booked Dutch dj of the acid movement.
Man Outta Space is a heavy record digger who's always on a quest to bring something new. He is part of the Decadance resident team and is known as the founder of various concepts as Wir Tanzen, Zun Inn, Spectrum and Tcno Time where he invited great artists as Dax J, Paula Temple, Pfirter, Pariah, Keith Carnal, Randomer, Jay Lumen, Stefan ZMK, Manu Kenton... and many, many more. He also played at Fuse, Stereo Club (Fr), Club Vaag, Club 45, Café D'Anvers... With his broad selection of music he can warm up with deep and spacey tracks or close with a bang.
Dj Ignite was only the second woman (after Miss Djax) ever featured on a Retro Acid line-up. Coming from the acid and break core scenes, she developed her own typical acid style. This resident of Acid Arena and Narcosis made the dance-floor explode with a bang. So we gladly invited her back for this NYE bang.
Sevenum Six started producing electronic music in 2008 at the age of 17. He was very quickly addicted to combining analogue with digital in the studio. Throughout the years the free party scene and acid music made him into what he is today. He released on labels such as Obs.cur, Narcosis, Mackitek, Acid night, Tekno sucks... with over 20 vinyls to date. He is one of the most well-known acid tekno artists in Belgium today.
