Retro Acid, Belgium's longest running and still premier acid event, stays true to the real acid sounds. Retro Acid will once again celebrate the underground sounds of the famous Roland 303. Over the years, they have gone from acid house over acid techno to acid core. For this edition they have chosen to put only the rougher acid genres in the spotlight. The acidic ingredients of the night are - in good tradition - a lot of live-action and leading dj's in the genre. All of whom have an extensive knowledge of all things acid and all of whom know how to relay this expertise to the dance-floor perfectly.
The restless music fetishist that is Ferenc van der Sluijs is well known for having a smorgasbord of different projects and sounds in his interdimentional arsenal. One such project is Beverly Hills 808303, which finds him biting people's eardrums with acid music driven by the iconic sounds of the Roland TR-808 and TB-303. He had been doing so ever since 1994 on labels like Acid Planet, Drop Bass Network and his own Viewlexx, but always on a low and extremely selective basis. One might be forgiven thinking he had stopped, but the revered Beverly Hills 808303 is something that cannot be stopped. As such, it is still serving up brain frying electronic sounds that breath exciting new life in the acid form.
Representing acid, techno, experimental electro music, 2Junxion stands for the best in the scene. They almost exclusively do semi-live performances. A 2Junxion set is versatile and not to be compared with any others. They are known for their skilled performances and unique and highly energetic sound. Recognizing their similar taste in music and technology they joined as a team and discovered there was a lot of synergy. 2Junxion specializes in long sets in all electronic styles and are masters in acid and techno. Both deejays started their mixing careers in the 90's, Vinyl Junk mastered in hardcore, while SynnyS mastered his techno and they always stayed faithful to their true love : Acid !
Frixion Fanatic's tracks on Ob.scur feature awesomely complex warp-speed 303 sequencing over rigidly mechanical yet tribal drum machine programming. Acid lines interlock in spiraling melancholy harmonies that pull your mind into fractal vortexes. Ectoplasmic ambient drones float in the background, creating intensely alien emotional resonances.
Hypnoise Theory is truly one of the most promising young talents on our line-up. He's one of those guy's who's worked his ass off in his studio to reach a high quality level and now he's ready to show us what he is capable off. Here he will show us his acidcore-tekno style. Just check out his Soundcloud and you will agree. He will team up with Drinko. His styles are rough, hard and straight to the point. He spins a wide range of tempo's and building up the tension without thinking about genre boundaries is what he likes most. Expect 140 to 170+ acidcore and hardtechno. He's also known as the founder of Wir Tanzen, Zun Inn and Tcno Time.
Our resident Spacid is one of the earliest acid pioneers in Belgium. His first steps playing in front of a public date back to 1990. Four years later he founded Funky Green Aliens, a party organization and booking agency concentrating on promoting groundbreaking music & arts. The parties, mostly illegal, were very successful and still to this day represent the true roots of Spacid's dj career. At Retro Acid he always goes back to this base which finds its roots in the 303 !
Tune in to full blown acid modus and get ready to rave the night away with this freaking and bleeping line-up.
