Phunklarique & Dejonka (Piemont)

Phunklarique & Dejonka probably count as the most interesting newcomers amongst the numerous amount of DJ-Duos and producers in electronic music. Both only started their DJing ambitions in 2005 but meanwhile already have produced an enormous amount of productions (also under their pseudonyms Piemont, Alterno79 or A.k.a. Derbe) and remixes and already are an inherent part of the scene. Phunklarique was born in Hamburg as Frederic Möring-Sack and completed his training as an Audio-Engineer on the SAE. His musical career set off in Hamburg as a guitarist in various bands and gained knowledge concerning arrangement of songs and songwriting. Christian de Jonqueries was born in Sweden. His surname was his inspiration for his artist name and similar to his partner-in-crime found his way to electronic music via French House-acts as for instance Daft Punk and Les Rythmes Digitales.

The quality of their productions is verified by the top-notch labels (amongst others Great Stuff, Klang Gymnastik, Gedankensport, Karate Musik, Stil vor Talent) where remixes and productions by the Hamburgians can be found. However, the significant output for their latest releases has been the own record labels Hammarskjöld, Fingerfoodmusic and – newly founded – Suchtreflex, which they have been managing successfully since late 2005. The current release is the single by Phunklarique & Dejonka entitled “No breath at 280 feet” and was released on their label Hammarskjöld in march. Various upcoming releases and remixes are planned for 2007. Amongst others expect arrival of another Phunklarique & Dejonka EP on PM Music, another release by Dejonka on Parquet in july and a Phunklarique EP on Klang Gymnastik in September.

Together they recently founded the project Piemont. Under Piemont the two Hamburgians create music suitable for peak time hours as well as laid-back listening. The long awaited debut EP ("Ice Instinct") was released by "Hi Freaks" in January 2007. Since that time already two high class releases followed in April: "Nightshift EP" on the acclaimed "Gedankensport" label and "Carbonat" on cologne based imprint "MBF". Beeing charted and played by top class Djs such as Oliver Koletzki, Monika Kruse, Groove Rebels, Stephan Hinz, Joachim Spieth Carbonat quickly advanced to a widespread clubhit. Meanwhile Carbonat entered the German Club Charts (DCC) at position 13 in may 2007! The follow up on MBF called „Symapathetic“ on MBF out now.
