Mighty T-Dazzler

The Mighty T-Dazzler (Trevor Ricci) has been a part of the underground scene in NYC for many years. Back in 1989 he went to his first underground party thrown by Roger Sanchez (When he was still underground). This is where he first experienced the grime, the haze, the dance and the love of the underground house scene. During that time, Saturday nights were spent recording the late night radio mixes by legend Tony Humphries just to run to the record shops to find out what the track was.
Since then he has refined the very style that inspired him to become a Dj allowing him to play in clubs all over downtown NYC, holding a residency at The Izzy Bar in Manhattan's East Village and booking gigs in Europe. His sets are deep, musical, inspiring and soulful. A regular at NYC's legendary party "Body and Soul" means you aren't going to hear any mainstream trance anthems or electro-ish remixes of top 40 songs.
Instead you will be treated to a steaming helping of underground journeys that will cleanse yourself from the soot that everyday life layers upon your soul.
Trevor is currently living in Portland Oregon and is a resident of, the "Souldstice Sunday" party that is held weekly at THE GROOVE SUITE in Portland, Oregon every Sunday night.
When I spoke to Trevor about this doing this piece, I asked him a question... "Trevor, deep and soulful House Music" is almost non existent in Portland, this town is famous for dark weather inspired punk, whineymisunderstood indie rock and, "Never out of style" folk music chic, what makes you think there is anyone in this town who would be into the music you are bringing from the East Coast? He answered, "The kind of music" I play is appreciated by musicians, artists, writers, parents, teachers, children, grandparents and party people alike...
It don't matter where you're from. It's lyrics are saturated with hope and peace and righteousness for all people of the world. I think those are pretty much "Hippie-values" and I don't think there's a shortage of people in Portland who subscribe to those kinds of values.
Let's hope they can get past the stereotypes of nightclubbers and see that not all "House Music is the same".
