It's strange how the death of one musical group can be exactly the sort of catalyst needed to spawn another. KOAN Sound, the Bristol based dubstep trio, certainly are a highly gifted example of this phenomenon. After the gradual fade of a School mate's band in 2005, Brendan, Jim & Will united, deciding to fuse their passion for electronic music and blazing musical talent to form a new group, KOAN Sound. With influences such as The Prodigy, Spor and especially Noisia, it's not hard to see why KOAN Sound tracks are synonymous of dark gripping bass-lines that tear dance floors apart.

It was in 2008 that KOAN Sound released their first tune. Blessed & Clowny, released digitally on 'Abducted Dub,' found itself knocking Chase & Status's 'Eastern Jam' off the Beat Port top 10 Dubstep Chart for two weeks! The track then went on to remain in the Top 10 Chart, for a further 70 days, bringing well credited attention to the group. Soon a worldwide underground following emerged which found themselves uploading and sound clips they could get their hands on to Youtube and enthusiastically searching for more. KOAN Sound made them wait until August 2009 before unleashing another tune to the public. This time, a vinyl release of the Trill Bass Remix of Mafia along side another KOAN Sound tune, Alchemy blessed the b side of 'Boo & Yar' by Trill Bass.

Support is nothing but exponential for KOAN Sound, their unique twist to normality in dub step production and thrilling bass-lines has granted them credibility from producers and DJs all over the electronic music scene. The future seems to hold something special for the young producers, who have alined themselves with the likes of 'Sub-Universe' & 'Statix' as well as joining the Screwloose family.
