Timid boy

French electronic producer & Dj Damien Almira aka Timid Boy first rose to prominence in 2003, with his Dj residency at the famous Rex Club in Paris for the Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control parties. Spinning along side some of Europe’s top Dj's (Jeff Mills, Luciano, Ellen Allien, Paul Kalkbrenner, Booka Shade, Roman Flügel, Kiki, DJ Hell, Supermayer, Francois K, Paul Ritch, Seth Troxler…), his reputation grew quickly in the Parisian underground scene.
His passionate and zestful elucidation of the deep, hypnotic house & techno sound even seduced Resident Advisor which put his podcast as the “Mix Of The Day” on the Resident Advisor in January 2011.

Damien was also a very well known French music journalist, specializing in electronic music. In the past ten years, working for well-known French publications Rock & Folk, Technikart or Trax (France’s first electronic magazine) as Deputy Editor. This enables a deeper understanding and appreciation of electronic music and it’s rich heritage, which illuminates his productions.

He is also co-owner of the Time Has Changed imprint, along with fellow producer, Acumen. The label is fast becoming one of the hottest French house labels with key releases and remixes from Oxia, Carlo Lio, Kiki, Alex Celler, Glimpse, Okain, Mihai Popoviciu, Tom Budden, Ross Evana, Alessio Mereu, Basti Pieper… ; and fantastic supports from electronic luminaries like Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Sven Väth, Dubfire, Laurent Garnier, Raresh, Loco Dice, Carl Cox, Nick Curly, Steve Bug, Ellen Allien, Anja Schneider & many more…
In summer 2010, the CD compilation “Overview mixed by Timid Boy” was sold out and repressed in Europe.

In March 2009, Timid Boy released his debut on the label (“Split EP”) which garnered universal support and “Hermann Is Speaking” featuring in Trax Magazine’s CD covermount.

The follow up, “La Nuit” represented an important step for as Richie Hawtin heavily supported & charted the track. His following releases on labels, Percusa and Monique Musique were then supported by Luciano, Laurent Garnier, Loco Dice, Dubfire & Sebo K, and lauded also by the nu-house crew - dOP, Nick Curly, Julien Chaptal & Masomenos. His track “Bop Bap” was one of the highlights of the recent Silicone Soul “Darkroom Dubs Vol. 2” Mix CD, which gained widespread critical acclaim. His hypnotic, dance floor style also seduced the Spanish/ Italian house gang Circo Loco, (DC 10 Ibiza) whose residents Tania Vulcano & Andrew Grant signed tracks to their Isgud & Barraca labels.

In 2010 his recent releases on Time Has Changed, “Chicago Story” (The Oxia Remix was #1 on Juno’s Download and #8 on Beatport tech house charts) and “On A Cloud With Richard”, or “Budu Bulu EP” (on Jay Haze’s label Tuning Spork) & “You Make Me” (on 2000 and One’s label Bitten) have only served to further enhance his reputation.

In winter 2010/2011, most of his new tracks reach the Beatport charts (“Balloc1 ft Carlo Lio”, “Entreat” on Great Stuff, “All I Want” on Coyu’s label Suara, “Don’t Fret remix” for Kruse & Nuernberg, Alex Dolby “Younde” remix on Carlo Lio’s label Rawthentic).

In February 2011 the world no1 electronic magazine Mixmag contacted him to release an article & to put his track “On a Cloud With Richard” on the Mark Knight’s exclusive Mixmag Mix CD !

In march 2011, his new EP “Madrid” (Barraca) was no3 on Beatport Must Heard tech house Tracks and “La Madarina EP” (Amam) was no1 on decks.de !
In spring 2011, his new releases have great success on the electronic scene, as for example “Bandis and Dangerous Animals + Cesar Vs Disorder Remix” on Dame Music (no1 on Robert Dietz‘s Charts) or “Isis” on Hi Freaks (no1 on Bart Skills‘s Charts) and his new techno release on famous label Great Stuff (“Dark Side”) had big commercial success on Beatpor...

At the same time, his DJ career grows up fast with gigs in famous clubs as Panorama Bar, Bar 25, KaterHolzig, Air (Tokyo), D-Edge (Sao Paulo), Salon Daomé (Montreal), Cocoon, Tresor, Rex Club, Spartacus Club, Mac Arena Beach Club (Barcelona), Cirque du Bonheur and success tours in Japan, USA, Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico…

Winter 2011 is the time for the French boy to release a lot of exclusive collaborations (with Marco Resmann from Watergate/panorama Bar…), hot tracks and remixes (on Upon You …).
In November his new EP on Time Has Changed “My Gang” is a new success : the release reach the beatport tech house charts and is charted by Reboot, Spencer Parker or Oxia…

In april 2012 Timid Boy has new success with his remix for Zoë Xenia “Heart&Spirit” (High Definition Records) is charted by Loco Dice Beatport’s Charts and goes #10 Beatport Deep House charts ! At the same time, on his techno side, his track “All Access” with Electric Rescue (Bedrock) runs into the Techno Charts.
The quality of theses works made the French techno heroes Agoria says: “Timid Boy shows us that he's a great producer, and he's an artist to follow in 2012."
